Personal Revival and Cleansing

Read Luke 24:25-26

Jesus called these two disciples"foolish and slow of heart to believe" all that the Old Testament scriptures declared about His suffering and glorification. How would the Lord Jesus describe your heart today?
Whatever a burning heart is, it must include a growing understanding of and a deepening affection for Christ, His cross and resurrection. Has your heart become sluggish in your relationship with Christ? Have you lost the personal delight in the knowledge of Christ's love and sacrifice for you?
Humility, repentance, and confession of sin, are always vital first steps to the revival of our hearts. "Repent therefore and return that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19)
Revival has one chief aim- the removal of sin and the purifying of the believer...Revival itself concerns two parties, God and His people. The message of the revival is:What are you doing about your piled up sins? Revival is a sign that, because of his thinning patience, God has moved his people to confession... The seed of revival is the grief of the Holy Spirit, the confession of the people is the Spirits grief vented. Only when the Spirit is "ungrieved " can the blessing come. It is at that point that Gods people can take a mighty leap forward.Unless I have a contented Holy Spirit within me, I need revival. Revival is God's surgery for people who have grown dull of hearing.
Make Psalm 139:23-24 your prayer:"Search me, O God and know my heart: try me and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting." Also remember 1 John 1:9 for direction and hope:" If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." A helpful exercise for some is to write down specific sins, confess and forsake them and then cross them off the paper.

Steps to a burning heart

Luke 24:13-35 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
13And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
14And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
15And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
16But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
17And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?
18And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?
19And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:
20And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
21But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.
22Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;
23And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
24And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
25Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:
26Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
28And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.
29But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
30And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.
31And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.
32And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
33And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,
34Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.
35And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.

Did you read this slowly and carefully? Why not go back and read it again?

1-(vv, 13-20) Acknowledge that a burning heart comes to someone who already knows Christ spiritually and desires more of Him.
2-(v.21) Cultivate a spiritual hunger for the lord Jesus Christ and trust Him for it.
3-vv 22-24, Be willing to listen and learn from others the trurths about Christ.
4-vv 25-26, Let Christ Himself search your heart for your spiritual needs and confess any sin of unbelief relating to the presence of Christ.
5-v. 27, Become aware of the centrality of the lord Jesus Christ in all the scriptures as you seek a burning heart.
6- vv. 29-32 Earnestly and humbly invite Christ to open your eyes personally to the reality of a burning heart.
7. vv. 33-35 Share with fellow believers personally your spiritual excitement of experiencing a burning heart from the lord Jesus Christ.
Let us pray for a burning heart right now beginning a renewal with our master. We could have the same testimony as the 2 disciples on the road to Emmaus:" Were not our hearts burning within us while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was opening the scriptures to us?" (NASB)

Why go to church?

*Why Go To Church?**A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained**That it made no sense to go to church every Sunday.**"I've gone for 30 years now," he wrote, "and in that time I have heard**Something like 3,000 sermons.**But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them.**So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by**Giving sermons at all."**This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column,**Much to the delight of the editor.**It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher:*
*"I've been married for 30 years now.**In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals.**But, for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single**One of those meals.**But I do know this .They all nourished me and gave me the strength *Needed to do my work.**If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead**Today.**Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be**Spiritually dead today!"**When you are DOWN to nothing.... God is UP to something!**Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the**Impossible!**Thank God for our physical AND our spiritual nourishment.*
*All right, now that you're done reading, send it on.**I think everyone should read this. "When Satan is knocking at your door,**Simply say, "Jesus, could you get that for me?"*

Our Pastors' sermon Sunday

I probably have Sunday morning and Sunday night mixed up. It was all so good and I was so blessed.

Changing! From glory to glory!!

2 Corinthians: 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

We have to know where we are before we can go anywhere When we get saved we cannot look at someone that's been saved 20 years and expect to be where they are! We must prove ourselves. We accumulate so much over the years. If you were going to move then you would need to get rid of some things. Moving would be hard if there were to much junk. Over the years we have moved many times. We would try to keep everything we had but one day we bought a new mobile home. We were so excited! We had been married 22 years. I didn't want anything to clutter up this new home. I sold everything we didn't need. When we moved the things in I put it up as soon as it was set in the house. It was on a Sat. and church was the next day so I knew I needed to do as much as possible. I had only 2 boxes to unpack on Sunday. At times I notice that I have too much junk and I start trying to throw things away or give it to someone who can use it. You see my husband and I love rummage sales and collect other folks things. Sometimes I wonder if that's good. I am sure there's still things that I need to get rid of. Can you see a spiritual lesson here.

When I got saved I began to change. Some folks think that they can put something over on God but they don't usually deceive man much less God. We will change IF we are saved.

The spirit of the Lord is already working. When we began to obey God in the little things then we began to grow. It's like the people that Brother Ferris pointed out in service that obeys their heart when they feel to sing. God blesses everyone and that soul is growing in God. They are changing inside by the work of the spirit of God.

Joseph changed his mind when the angel spoke to him.
18This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. 19Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[c] because he will save his people from their sins."
22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"[d]—which means, "God with us."
24When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Saul held Stephens coat wile he was stoned but Saul changed-Acts 8
1And Saul was there, giving approval to his death.

1Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord's disciples. He went to the high priest 2and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. 3As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. 4He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, "Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?"
5"Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked.
"I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. 6"Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do."
7The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone. 8Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus. 9For three days he was blind, and did not eat or drink anything.

The Holy Spirit is trying to get us to him! We must get our relationship right with God. We need to began to speak the Word of God.
The word of God is Jesus.
Hebrews 4:12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. The word of God is a sword! The word of god spoken allows the Spirit of God to work.
2 Timothy 3:15and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. We must know the scripture to be made wise.
Titus 3:8This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
Psalm 33:6
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He spoke the world into existance by his word.

Gen. 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
Psalm 33:6
6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.

Psalms 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
1 Corinthians 2:4My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power.
We could go on and on telling about the WORD OF GOD and what it IS!

Acts 17:6And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also;
When the word is spoken things happen. Let us speak the word of God and let us pray the word of God. Let us NOT be timid.
Psalms 107:20 He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.
John 15:3You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Is the word a washer and a dryer? Well we are made clean by the word of God.
Matthew 4:4 Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
1 Peter 2:3
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.

Hebrews 11:3
Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. So He is a framer.

1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
1 Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. His word is incorruptible seed and there will be a harvest!
God bless you when you read the Word of God.

The scripture that I claim for my grandson and all our service men and women that are in Iraq and other places!

Psalm 91
1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
9Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
10There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
11For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
12They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
13Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
14Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
15He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
16With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
The one that I love best is verse 15. I believe it with all my heart. I have some dog tags with his picture on it and I hold it and pray. It's not like I have to have it but I love looking at his picture as I pray.
God bless all those that read this and may he bless you today. Merry Christmas.
Remember the reason for the season is Jesus. Be a blessing to someone. Freely we have received let us freely give.

Prayer

Gen.4;25 At that time men began to call on the name of the LORD.

Psalms 65:1&2 Praise awaits you, O God, in Zion; to you our vows will be fulfilled.
2 O you who hear prayer, to you all men will come.

Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. (The holy Spirit aids in prayer)

Rev. 5;88
And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.

Matthew 7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Why pray? The bible says pray!
41

Matthew 26:41Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (This is why we don't pray) I feel God dealing with me in that still, small voice saying, pray. I say yes Lord. And then say in a little while or as I go lord. I have learned that I have to go to the lord in prayer early in the morning or I will get too busy to pray. I have also learned that if I take time early to go before God and touch the hem of his garment, letting Him talk to me and then taking to him that my day is full of prayer. I will walk all day with an attitude of prayer,)
I go to church and the preacher ask for 15 minutes of prayer. I find that I get so excited and say Yes I can do that, no problem but remember the last part of Matthew 26. I also find that when I do it I have such a good time that I wonder why I don't find a place and shut myself in it everyday. God blesses me. It is the devils job to stop us from giving that quite time to God. You see he knows how God is going to bless us!
John 16:24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. (Look at the last of that scripture. That your joy will be complete) It is a joy to pray in the spirit.
Eph. 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
1Thess. 5:17pray continually; We must give God our self because we need to know how and what to pray for so we can pray continually.
Exodus 15:25Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. MOSES PRAYED.
Elisha, Joshua, prayed. Paul prayed. Jesus prayed!
We must not be a wimp when it comes to praying. We must pray the WORD.
Lets pray for a HOLY SHAKING!

Luke 11
Jesus' Teaching on Prayer 1One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."
2He said to them, "When you pray, say: " 'Father,[ hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. 3Give us each day our daily bread. 4Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.' "
5Then he said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, 6because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.'
7"Then the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' 8I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man's boldness[ he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
9"So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
Failure in prayer
Deut.1:45 You came back and wept before the LORD, but he paid no attention to your weeping and turned a deaf ear to you. They had disobeyed.
Secret sin causes failure,Indifference, neglet of mercy, stubborness, self indulgence

Sucessful Prayer,
Broken and contrite spirit, pray like you believe it, pray in faith,Mark 11:24 24Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.pray with righteousness,James 5:16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
